On Being An Older Library School Student [Starter Kit].
Thank blog for Laura Sanders!
This post is mostly about the being filled by older students in library school. Like Laura, I am 30 and changing careers, but loving every minute of getting back into school and discovering that I actually have a lot of the skills required for success in this field. Sanders’s post reflects my mindset when sending out job applications. I like to emphasize my previous career in customer service and graphic design on my resume, cover letters, and in interviews because I cultivated an extremely valuable skill set working with inventories, databases (though not library DBs), new technologies, and (most importantly!) people. It emphasizes the unique value that I bring to every task whether it is in the classroom or in the workplace.
